ANTHEM OF PRAISE Click for Printer Friendly version Email this prayer to a friend
Let us sing to the essence of all joy: praise our source of happiness

Give thanks! For fears that chased our insecurities, hounded by constraints, are all exposed

The force of truth released compulsive thoughts and cast them all outside the sway of greed, where they cannot grip or guide their seizures of despair

The healing source of light awakens us from night.

We do not fear the depths of hellish separation. We are not drawn to what will harm our best intention

Serenity is waiting now, for we who thank the source of life

THANKSGIVING FOR GOOD THINGS Click for Printer Friendly version Email this prayer to a friend
Thank you, oh source of all abundance, for surrounding us with good things. But help us to remember that nothing of earthly value owns timeless truth. Let your immeasurable blessings transform how we perceive material benefits. Teach us to appreciate unchanging treasures: the wealth of your compassion; the grandeur of your wisdom, and the richness of reconciliation. Lighten our selfishness with simple faith. Help us to reveal your love more joyously. And strengthen us in grace, oh God, always to give the best that serves you most in humble gratitude.

Amen

Dear God, we come to you with thanksgiving for your gracious promise to provide us with all our needs. Move us to share your abundance generously. Though we are wealthy by worldly standards, guard us from arrogant trust in the uncertainties of affluence. Increase our acceptance of your grace, oh source of our well being, so that we might materialize kindness. Expand our generosity to deepen your joy. Motivate us to come closer together in reverence and respect. Educate us in the ways of your Word, oh God, so that we thrive for you.

Birth of a Baby Click for Printer Friendly version Email this prayer to a friend
Dear Lord, We give thanks for the surprise that is this child ______,
One day in his mother’s body and out in your world the next.
We give thanks for every first: open eyes, loud cry, suckle,
recognition, crawl, step, word, prayer and everything in between.
Give his parents the strength, stamina, love, and joy to do
well by him until he become his own person. Grant this child’s
parents the gift of patience in times of fatigue and let them never
forget to take time for each other to kindle again the love they share.
And finally we ask that the generosity of your spirit be so much
a part of this family’s life that they may be for this child your arms,
your heart, and your love.

Thanksgivings for Small Things in Life Click for Printer Friendly version Email this prayer to a friend
Lord, thank you for this sink of dirty dishes; we have plenty of food to
eat.

Thank you for this pile of dirty laundry; we have plenty of nice clothes to wear.

And I would like to thank you, Lord, for those unmade beds; they were so
warm and comfortable last night. I know that many have no bed.

My thanks to you, Lord, for this cluttered bathroom, it is so convenient.

Thank you for this finger-smudged refrigerator that needs defrosting so
badly; It has served us faithfully for many years. It is full of cold
drinks and enough leftovers for two or three meals.

Thank you, Lord, for this oven that absolutely must be cleaned today. It
has baked so many things over the years.

The whole family is grateful for that tall grass that needs mowing, the lawn
that needs raking; we all enjoy the yard.

Thank you, Lord, even for that slamming screen door. My kids are healthy
and able to run and play.

Lord, the presence of all these chores awaiting me says You have richly
blessed my family. I shall do them cheerfully and I shall do them
gratefully. Amen.
